Increase Taxes To Aid Services

The Capital Times :: EDITORIAL :: 9A

Saturday, September 25, 2004

DEAR EDITOR: AS A STUDENT AT THE UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN-MADISON, I AM VERY FORTUNATE.

Not only do I have the insurance and human services I need, I also seldom witness the effects of such inadequacies around campus.

However, this does not mean that I am complacent. I feel that raising the property taxes by approximately $20 per household, as proposed by SOS Madison, would begin to correct this problem.

We are all affected by the loss of social services. Dane County has always taken care of its own; now should be no exception.
